I'm Mrs. Bernard. I've been a Family and Consumer Sciences educator since 2008. I have taught a wide variety of FCS courses at the high school and middle school levels.
Here are the classes that I have taught:
- Personal and Family Development
- Food Science
- Advanced Food & Nutrition
- Child Development
- Child Care & Guidance
- Career Prep
- Culinary Arts
- Lifetime Nutrition & Wellness
- Principles of Human Services
- Interior Design
- Clothing & Textiles
- FCS Discovery
Why did I choose to become an FCS teacher?
I took FCS courses every year in school since I was in middle school. I always enjoyed those classes. Two years in middle school, all four years in high school, and seven additional years in post-secondary education. I love to sew and cook in my personal life. I am happy to do the hobbies that I love as a career and share what I know with the future.
I became a teacher because I have always found myself teaching people how to do what I enjoy. I remember playing school/teacher with some of my cousins. I've often had to present and teach topics with an internship and other jobs I've had. It seemed natural that I pursue teaching as a career.
